Elvin L. Rose, 78 longtime area resident died Friday, September 23, 2006 at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan. He was born August 30, 1928, in Bird City, KS, to Ralph & Luella Rose. Ralph served in the US Army during WW II. He worked as a driller in the oil field and later drove a truck. On October 24, 1979, Elvin married Donna Butterfield in Brush. He was a life member of VFW #3551. He enjoyed fishing, listening to country-western music, and watching college and professional football, especially the Denver Broncos. Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Fort Morgan; 2 sons, Robert and Donald both of Nebraska; 4 step-children, Danny Butterfield of Besmer, AL, Diane Bernstien of Mansfield, OH, Donald Butterfield of Sidney, NE, and Dewey Butterfield of Amarillo, TX; 2 brothers, 1 sister, 7 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 1 step great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, 2 brothers, and his parents. A private family graveside service will be held. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary & Crematory.
