Emanuel Weibert, 85 Longtime area resident, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at his home in Weldona. He was born July 23, 1921 in Gill, Colorado to Emanuel and Anna (Oestrich) Weibert. Emanuel grew up on the family farm near Gill and attended Gill School until 1936 when he left school to work on the farm. He did all kinds of farm work in the summer months and helped his father haul feed and feed livestock during the balance of the year. Weibert served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After basic training he was sent overseas to the African-European- Middle East Theatre. He was assigned to the Office of Strategic Service because of his ability to speak more than one language. His tour of duty entailed 26 countries and 4 continents. He returned to the United States in May of 1946 fully intending to re-enlist but on the insistence of his mother and older half sister returned to farming and rural life. Emanuel married Lea Schmidt on February 8, 1948 in Greeley. She died July 4, 1975. He married Jeanne Lentz in 1983. Emanuel was a member of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association and a Life Member of Wiggins Community Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Association and the Ft. Morgan Elks Lodge. Survivors include, his wife Jeanne of Weldona, two daughters, Sheila Weibert Hood of South Carolina, Shirley Frieinmuth of Maryland, one son, Gary Weibert of Wiggins, one sister, Ella Hoff of Greeley, two brothers, John Weibert of Longmont and Herman Weibert of Wiggins and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, his first wife, three sisters, Marie, Esther and Kathleen and three brothers, Fred Scheetz, Alex Scheetz and Clarence Weibert. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 2 until 4pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Wiggins Community Church in Wiggins. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO at 2:30 PM The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
