Emma H. Alexander, 97, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. She was born February 6, 1914 in Snyder, Nebraska to August and Anna (Beck) Klemke. Emma married Leo A. Alexander at the Lutheran Church in Lusk, Wyoming on April 20, 1938. She and her husband moved to Morgan County from Manville, Wyoming in 1955. He died in 1991. For many years Emma owned and operated a day care center in her home on Euclid Street. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Senior Citizen Center. She loved family gatherings and also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and dancing. Emma was a great cook, angel food cakes and homemade pies were her specialties. Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Lee Roach of Temecula, California and Wanda Shipman of Aurora, Colorado, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, and thirteen brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Beehive Assisted Living Center in Ft. Morgan.
