Erminia "Minnie", Garcia Gomez, 56, longtime area resident, passed away peacefully, at her home in Ft. Morgan. She was born March 28, 1958 in Scottsbluff, NE to Everardo and Julia (DeLuna) Garcia Sr. Minnie was raised in McGrew, NE, attended school in Bayard, NE, and then enrolled in cosmetology school in Sidney, NE. She began her working career in Scottsbluff. She later moved to Fort Morgan and worked for the Excel Corporation. She was a member of the Teamsters Union and devoted time in helping other workers translate their work related issues. She then decided to help raise her grandchildren and became a licensed daycare provider. Minnie helped care for many children over the next15 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She participated in many local community events, and enjoyed socializing, bingo, dancing, traveling, family outings and "going to the city". She also enjoyed attending services at Potter's House in Denver. Survivors include her husband Tibursio Gomez, her daughter, Holly Lundgren, her son, Brandon Garcia (Christy), grandchildren, Aubree Hickman, Shantrice Fletcher, Gabriel and Malia Garcia, all of Fort Morgan, sisters, Linda Sharp (Geno), Sally Wallace (George), and Jesusa Garcia, her brothers, Everardo Garcia Jr. (Christina), and David Garcia (Violet). She was preceded in death by her mother Julia. Memorial Services will be Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Life Fellowship Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will be in Omaha, NE at a later date.
