ERMINIA MADRID, 88, longtime area resident, died late Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born September 8, 1920 in Talpa, NM to Sufracio & Tereasa (Cruz) Romero. She married Atilano "Bill" Madrid on May 5, 1946 in Las Vegas, NM. They moved to the area from New Mexico in 1946. Mrs. Madrid was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Weldona. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and gardening. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Survivors include ten children; Roger Madrid & his wife Crystal of Weldona, Frank Madrid of Weldona, Isabel Ortiz of Fort Morgan, Priscilla Riegel and Henry Madrid, both of Kansas City, MO, Bernice Bell of Denver, Eva Griego and Teresa Herrera, both of Talpa, NM, Luciano Madrid of Santa Anna, CA, and Teddy Casias of Bailey. Erminia is also survived her sister, Stella Robinson of New Mexico, by 78 grandchildren including Joette Madrid, Stacy Bell, and Veronica Vuittonet and families, all of Fort Morgan. There are also several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Linda Russler, her daughter-in-law, also survives her. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, one brother; her daughter, Margaret Madrid; and two sons, Ernesto Madrid and Gilbert Madrid. Visitation will be Monday, June 1st at 6:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. A rosary vigil will follow at 7:00 PM, also at the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd at Saint Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
