Ervin "Erv" LeRoy Hammond passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born April 18, 1934 in Torrington, Wyoming, the son of Everitt and Vivian Hammond. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.

He married Elizabeth Jean Degnan on January 22, 1955.  After his service with the Navy, he proceeded to attend Colorado State University receiving his Bachelors of Science in Zoology, his Masters in Education at the University of Northern Colorado.  His career scanned the state of Colorado with his first stop at Olin Elementary as janitor, teacher, and Principal. Next came professional opportunities as principal at Galeton Elementary, Wiggins Elementary, La Jara Elementary, Monte Vista Elementary and his final stop at Beaver Elementary in Brush.  He loved every child he was responsible for and enriched each life he touched.

Erv is survived by his wife Elizabeth J. Hammond and their two children, daughter, Victoria Marie Lewis and spouse Richard Asa Lewis and son, Timothy J. Hammond and spouse Robyn Jo Hammond.  He has five grandchildren, Jill (Scott) M. Kilgore, Joel (Melissa), R. Engelstad, Andrew (Megan) J. Engelstad, Melissa (Geoff) M. Soelter and Rebecca (Fred IV) A. Davis.  He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Andrew Lewis, Jacob Engelstad, Morgan Engelstad, Quin Soelter, Matthew Engelstad, Gavin Soelter, Anna Engelstad, and Freddie Davis V.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11 ^th from 4 – 6 PM with recitation of The Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush on Wednesday, January 12th at 10:00 AM . Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens at 8426 US-287, Fort Collins, CO 80525 AT 2:30 PM

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 340 Stanford Street, Brush, CO 80723, to be used for those who come by and are in need.
