Estell "Ole" Olsen, 101, of Goodrich, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born March 8, 1908 in Silver Creek, Nebraska to Ole and Kari (Lyngve) Olsen. Ole married Margaret Franks on November 19, 1934 in Greeley, Colorado. She died in February of 2001 Ole's family moved from Nebraska in 1910 and homesteaded a place seven miles Southwest of Keota, CO. In the 1930's Ole helped build the Green Mountain Reservoir dam. During his long life he worked at several jobs and his family moved several times before ending up on a farm South of Goodrich in 1974 where he had lived ever since. Ole was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ft. Morgan. He was an artist and he enjoyed reading, hunting, mining and loved living on the Easter Plains of Colorado. He was also an accomplished carpenter and helped build the Wiggins High School. Survivors include two sons, Rex T. Olsen of Baine Bridge Island, Washington and Ken Olsen of Goodrich, one daughter, Jeananne Wright of Longmont, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Ole was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bryce Olsen, two sisters, Bertha Andrews and Regnall Markley, four brothers, Louis, Teed, Oscar and Clifford Olsen and one grandson, Kent Olsen. Memorial Sevices will be Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 11:30 am at the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Goodrich. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church.
