A Tribute from His Family
They just don’t make them like Euel anymore.
To know Euel was to know one of the most hardworking, genuine, and down-to-earth men you could ever meet. He believed in the value of an honest day’s work, treating people right, and never making a fuss over himself. He was a man of few frills, a quick wit, and a heart bigger than he would ever admit.
Of all the things he accomplished in his 90 years, nothing made him more proud than his family. He was our dad, grandad, great-grandad, and the person we could always count on. No matter what we needed or when we needed him, he showed up. He celebrated our accomplishments, helped us through life’s challenges, and loved us in the way he knew best, through his actions.
Euel had an incredible gift for making things with his hands. An exceptionally talented gardener and carpenter, he spent countless hours creating homemade Christmas gifts for his friends and family alongside his longtime special friend and companion, Roberta. His beautiful furniture and woodworking projects live on in the homes of family, friends, neighbors, and even local businesses. Every piece is a little reminder of the love and care he put into everything he did.
And then there was his humor. Euel always had a joke, a smart remark, or a story to tell. He had a way of making people laugh without even trying. We will forever remember his homemade apple pie moonshine, his warm personality, and the laughter that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
Euel didn’t measure a good life by money, possessions, or recognition. He measured it by family, hard work, kindness, and the people he could help along the way.
We will miss his jokes, his stories, his steady presence, and knowing he was always just a phone call away. But we are so fortunate to have pieces of him all around us, in the furniture he built, the gifts he made, the lessons he taught us, and the memories we will carry for the rest of our lives.
And after 20 years, we like to imagine Betty waiting with open arms to welcome him home, and Euel, probably with a joke locked and loaded, making his way to her.
We love you, Euel. Thank you for showing us what it means to be one of the good ones.
With all our love,
Your Family
