Obituary

Eugene Denis Petersen 94, passed away in his home, April 23, 2022. He was a long time resident of Fort Morgan, Colorado. He was born to Augustus and Dora Petersen in Denver, Colorado and raised on a dairy farm in Broomfield. He continued his education until the 8 th grade to help on the farm. In January of 1946 he joined the Army and served as a truck driver. He left the service after two years with a victory medal and an award for marksmanship from Fort Lawton in Washington state. Little did he know his future wife was in Washington at the same time.

August 17 th , 1951 he married his love, Shirley Mae Shouse. He had various jobs including working on a horse ranch in Yampa, Colorado. They eventually move back to Fort Morgan and being a truck driver was occupation of choice until he retired. They were married for 64 years until she passed away March 14 th , 2015. Gene lovingly took care of Shirley suffering from Post-Polio Syndrome until her passing.

Gene is survived by, two sons, Randy Petersen (Caroline), and Rodney Petersen both or Log Lane Village and daughter Lori Jones (Ricky Manka) of Florissant, Colorado.  Seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, six great-great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Parker, grandson Jeremiah Jones and great grandson Jacob Threlkel.

Memorial service will be at United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan, 1:30 PM on Monday May 2 nd with Interment to follow at Fort Morgan Memory Gardens. There will a gathering with refreshments at the home of Randy and Caroline Petersen, 125 Spruce in Log Lane Village.
