Obituary

EVA MAE BENTLEY, 96, of Fort Morgan, died Thursday morning, January 14, 2010 at her home. She was born October 1, 1913 in Oklahoma to Robert & Alice (Oberman) Venard. The family moved to Fort Morgan when she was 2 years old. She married Virgil Griffith on December 21, 1931. The family farmed in the area for several years. Mr. Griffith died in 1969. She married Merlin G. Bentley in 1976. He died in 2009. Mrs. Bentley was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, and bowling. She especially enjoyed dancing. Survivors include her three daughters, Joann Graff, Margaret Godo, and Carol Prevost; and two sons, Delbert Griffith and Harold Griffith, all of Fort Morgan. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, and 50 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Griffith; her second husband, Merlin Bentley; her daughter, Janice Meininger; her parents; six brothers, Lloyd, Bill, Jack, Fred, Arthur, and Harold; and five sisters, Ethel, Alice, Marby, Vianita, and Blanche. Visitation will be Monday, January 18th from 4 – 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 19th at 10:30 AM, also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Friends may make memorial gifts in Mrs. Bentley's name in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
