Our beautiful mom, wife, grandma, sister, and friend, Eva Nanette Edmunds Olsen of Ephraim, Utah, ran into the arms of her Savior on August 19, 2026.

Eva was born on April 30, 1961, in Nephi, Utah, to Fred James Edmunds and Edna Madsen Edmunds. The baby of the family and the only daughter, Eva was born into a family of seven older brothers, two of whom had passed away before she was born. She was raised in Fountain Green, Utah. She attended school in Moroni, Utah, and later North Sanpete High School, where she made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed taking classes at Snow College later in life.

In 1977, she met her eternal companion, Kenneth Olsen. They were married on February 16, 1980, and later sealed as an eternal family in the Manti Utah Temple on June 25, 1988.

One of Eva’s greatest joys in life was being a mom to her three children, Laura, Sara, and Jordan. She was deeply involved in their lives as they were growing up and continued to support, encourage, and love them throughout their adult years. Whether she was serving as a room mom, participating in the PTA, leading Girl Scouts, helping with Boy Scouts, or simply being there whenever her children needed her, she loved her family with all of her heart and every ounce of her being.

Eva was happiest when she was with her family and grandchildren. She looked forward to our annual family reunions and any time we could get together. She loved spending time with her husband, whether they were going for a ride together or looking at the beautiful fall leaves. Together, they also took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and yard. In the evenings, when her kids would call, they would often hear that Mom was watching a Hallmark movie with Dad right next to her—watching along with his eyes closed.

Eva was an excellent cook and baker and was famous—at least in our family—for her potato salad and raspberry cheesecake salad. Each Halloween, the kids and grandkids could count on Grandma sending them Wendy’s Frosty Boo Books tucked inside a fun Halloween card. Every December, she and Dad made delicious Rocky Road fudge, carefully packaged it, and mailed it to her children and grandchildren, some with nuts and some without, to make sure everyone had something they enjoyed.

The grandkids also looked forward to Christmas, when she would make each grandchild a homemade pillowcase using fabric she had carefully chosen especially for them based on the things they loved and enjoyed. Her grandkids will always remember her special “play office” bin and her craft bin, coloring or playing Yahtzee with her, her stash of Werther’s, and the tire swing in front of Grandma and Grandpa’s house. She shared her love of creating with them, too, teaching some of her grandchildren to sew and crochet. More than anything, Eva was an incredible grandma. She loved each of her grandchildren deeply, cared about what was happening in their lives, and took the time to truly know each one of them.

She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, the youngest of whom was born on the very same day she passed away. We believe she was waiting to make sure that sweet baby girl arrived safely before she felt it was okay to return home to her Heavenly Father. That was Eva—she always wanted to make sure everyone she loved was safe and doing well.

Eva was incredibly talented and creative. She made the most beautiful quilts with love and remarkable precision. She was a member of multiple quilt guilds and loved attending quilting retreats with her friends. She also had an incredible gift for floral arranging and creating beautiful bouquets. She worked at several floral shops throughout the years.

Eva was also an accomplished seamstress and did alterations for many people. She made beautiful blessing dresses for several of her granddaughters, along with countless other special things for the people she loved. Everything she sewed was made with so much care and attention to detail. Creating with her hands brought her so much joy. She was also talented at crocheting and tatting. We are incredibly grateful to have so many beautiful things she created with her own hands to remind us of her love.

Eva loved music. She had music playing throughout her home almost all of the time, whether it was Kenny G, 1970s soft rock, or Sounds of Sunday. Whether she was driving in the car or trying to fall asleep at night, music brought her such joy and comfort. She always said she got that love of music from her mom.

Eva had many favorite things that brought her joy. She loved sunflowers and Gerbera daisies, the color coral, and beautiful sunshiny days. She enjoyed trips to Hobby Lobby and quilt shops, browsing fabric and finding inspiration for her next project. She loved decorating and had a real eye for interior design.

Eva had the most beautiful smile and the greatest laugh. She was a wonderful friend and treasured the people in her life. She had a gift for making people feel remembered and loved, whether through a card, a gift, a text, or simply stopping by for a visit.

Eva had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and of eternal families. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she served in many Church organizations, including Primary and Young Women, and most recently as a member of the Relief Society presidency. She treasured the friendships she made through that calling. She loved spending time in the temple and spoke fondly of the time she spent serving there as a temple worker.

Eva was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in November 2025. She faced that trial with incredible grace and courage. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5–6:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

She clung to those words throughout her illness, and she lived them well. We will always be so proud of her and in awe of her faith and strength.

Eva is survived by her sweet and devoted husband, Kenneth L. Olsen; her children and their families:Laura and Chad Saunders of Smithfield, Utah, and their children, Parker, Noah, and Ruby; Sara and Parry Tramp of Wiggins, Colorado, and their children, Eden, Annie, Everlee, Rebecka, Harrison, and Irelynn; Jordan and Sage Olsen of Smithfield, Utah, and their children, Bennett, River, and Miller. She is also survived by her brother, Jeff Edmunds (Carol); her sisters-in-law, Flora Edmunds, Julie Edmunds, Tamara “Tammy” Van Patten, and Judy Dunigan; her brothers-in-law, Terry Dunigan and Leslie “Van” Dunigan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna Edmunds; her brothers, Jon, Kevin, Brent, Tony, Clair, and Phil; her father-in-law, Roland “Collie” Olsen; her stepfather-in-law, Othneal Peterson; her mother-in-law, June Peterson; her sisters-in-law, Pauline Edmunds, Lucia Dunigan, and Ellouise Dunigan; her brothers-in-law, Vonnie “Pete” Dunigan and Robert “Butch” Dunigan; her granddaughter, Hazel Tramp; and her nieces, Teresa Edmunds and Caitlin Edmunds.

A funeral service for Eva will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ephraim, Utah (450 North 200 West). Friends and family are invited to join us as we remember and honor Eva’s beautiful life.

Immediately following the funeral, all are welcome to stay for a luncheon and celebration of life, where we can gather together, visit, and continue celebrating the life and love of our beautiful Eva. During this time, friends and family will also have the opportunity to share a favorite memory or story about her.

We would like to give a very special thank you to Mom’s “sister-friend,” Colleen. From the beginning of Mom’s cancer journey to the very end, Colleen was by her side and by ours. She loved Mom fiercely, supported our family in countless ways, and helped carry us through some of the hardest days of our lives. There are simply no words to adequately thank her for all she did. We could not have done this without her, and we will forever be grateful for her love and support.

We are also incredibly grateful for the members of the Ephraim 2nd Ward, who loved and cared for Mom and our family throughout her illness. We felt so much love through the countless acts of kindness and service given to our family—the messages, the visits, and the prayers. We will never forget the way they helped carry us through such a difficult time.

Our hearts are broken that we have to say goodbye for now, but we are grateful for the peace we have in knowing that this goodbye is not forever. We love you forever and always!
