Obituary

Evelyn Kathyrn Cleary passed away on October 26, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Las Vegas NM.

Evelyn was born on February 18, 1924 in Sidney Nebraska to John and Emma Engel.  Evelyn married Robert Cleary on August 31, 1947.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Lorene Byer, Harriet Johnson, Arlene Smith and brother Edwin Engel.

She is survived by daughter Janet Simon, son Jay (Gayle)

Cleary and grandchildren Michelle King, Lucas Morgan, Nathan Morgan, Brenden Cleary and Chase Cleary; 8 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was an avid bridge player and attained Certification of Life Master and enjoyed competing in local and national tournaments. Evelyn did not find a card game that she could ignore or not master.  If you ever needed to find out how the Rockies or her beloved Todd Helton was doing, all you had to do was ask her.  She enjoyed going to the games and was able to attend a  NLS game during RockTober with her grandson.  She was a devoted and activate member of  Lutheran Church of our Redeemer.  She loved her membership as a Doe at Lodge #236, was a member of their marching team and served a term for the national organization. Evelyn also enjoyed bowling and golf with Robert.   Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, keeping them fed with her skinny pancakes and toffee, playing cards and traveling with them.

A celebration of her 99 years will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Fort Morgan, CO.
