Obituary

A. Evelyn King, age 88, lifelong member of the Brush community died peacefully on December 19, 2025, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

After graduating from Brush High School, Evelyn worked at Leach Jewelry and later at Brush Motor Sales (Andersen Chevrolet). She married the love of her life, Gary L. King in 1957, and together they shared 62 years of devotion. Evelyn was later employed as the financial secretary at Brush High School for 27 years before retiring.

Evelyn devoted many years to 4-H, starting the Busy Hands 4-H Club. Her leadership left a lasting imprint on generations of local youth. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, painting, history, and spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. She was an active member of Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush for over 60 years where she served on various committees and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed attending service at All Saints Lutheran Church as a resident at Eben Ezer. Evelyn is remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother and for her work ethic, pride in her family, and service to her community.

Evelyn will be missed and remembered as someone who loved to help others and had a positive outlook on life.

Evelyn is survived by three children and their spouses: Lorna (Gil) Finlay, Heather (Rob) Peterson, and Keith (Sheri) King; and five grandchildren: Megan, Eric, Ryan, Elliott, and Landon. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Linda Schneider and Barbara Winkler along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Louise and Bill Skinner, her beloved husband Gary, brothers Fred and George Winkler, and sisters Mary Carver and Kathleen Adams.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Evelyn's name to All Saints Lutheran Church of Eben Ezer (Brush), Rankin Presbyterian Church, or Food Bank of the Rockies.
