Lavina Ferne (Schreiner) Fox, 91, of Brush, passed away Wednesday, December 25, at Sunset Manor in Brush, Colorado. She was born May 28, 1922, in Crook, CO to Ulysses Grant & Edna Christensen. Ferne had worked as a cook in several area food service facilities. She was the head cook for Wiggins School District for several years. She loved reading books, working jigsaw puzzles, and playing computer games. Survivors include her children, Beverly James of Brush, Janet Rosenfield and Jack Scott, both of Snyder, Rich Scott of Minatare, NE, Ed Scott of Wallace, NE, and Mike Scott of Hudson, CO; 1 sister, Granite (Dolly) Wach of Hayes Center, KS; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Wayne Scott, and Jerry Scott; 3 brothers, Carl Christensen, Jay Christensen, Bob Christensen and Grand Christensen Jr; 2 half-brothers, Nolan Manning and Albert Manning and one half-sister, Greta Troutman;, her parents and her husband, Tom Fox. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush at 10:30 AM. The service will conclude at the Mortuary. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery Columbarium.
