Obituary

Florentino "Floyd" Guzman, 73, life resident of Brush, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009, at the North Colorado Medical Center. Floyd fell at his home on Thursday and suffered significant neck injury. Floyd was born October 14, 1935, in Brush, to Santos & Celsa Guzman. He graduated from Brush High School in 1953. He joined the US Army and later the US Navy, where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Conflict. On October 13, 1961, Floyd married Marty Martinez in Bainbridge, MD. Following his retirement, the Guzman family moved back to Brush. Floyd was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf. Floyd was very dedicated to his family and really enjoyed being a grandpa. Survivors include his wife, Marty, of Brush; 3 daughters, Ginger Romero of Brush; Valerie Hubert of Greeley, and Vivian DeSantis of Evans, CO; 13 brothers & sisters, Angelita Torrez, Marlene Acosta, Robert Guzman, Santos Guzman Jr., and Rose Guzman all of Brush; Nate Guzman of Denver, Bea Carrillo and Aurelia Lopez both of Colorado Springs, CO, Jenny Mejia of Sterling, CO, Virginia Rosales and Gloria Guzman both of Greeley, Frank Guzman and Ben Guzman both of Brighton, CO; 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Florenz and his parents. Rosary & Vigil Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 340 Stanford Street in Brush. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church. Interment full military honors will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush on Wednesday from 2 – 5 PM.
