Frances Ada
Tauber
Jul 30, 1927 — May 7, 2024
Frances Ada Tauber - "Fran" - left this life on May 7, 2024 at the age of 96 (and three quarters). She passed peacefully at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, CO surrounded by her children and the love of her extended family. Fran was born to Edward and Florence Simpson on July 30,1927 in Platteville, CO, the youngest of 4 sisters. Her parents farmed near Longmont, CO and later worked at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, CO. She began her education in a one room schoolhouse and later graduated from North High School in Denver.
She married Lou Tauber in Denver on September 20, 1947. After World War II, he had left Pittsburg, PA. They found each other while working at Neisner's department store in Denver and a 57 year love story began. She said it started when he drove a car full of girls home and dropped her off last. He said it was because he paid for dinner and she ordered the cheapest meal. Their early year adventures included living briefly in a cabin in Estes Park, CO that had no indoor plumbing.
Along the way she had two children, Wayne and Theresa. Circumstances and opportunities took the family to Grand Junction, CO, Tucson, AZ, overseas to Pakistan and eventually to Ft Morgan, CO. She and her husband also lived for years in Casper, WY before returning to the Ft Morgan/Brush area. She spent much of her life as a homemaker and in support of a husband who travelled. But in the 1970's she and Lou managed the A&W drive-in that was then located at the corner of Main St, and Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan.
She had 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She worried over, joked with and doted on the whole brood right up until her last breath. She was an avid bridge player, square dancer and CO Rockies fan, and loved to travel. Her faith and family sustained and nourished her.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 8 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush, CO. Interment will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make a memorial donation to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, or to a charity of their choice.
