Obituary

Frances Ruth Schaaf Wambolt, 86, longtime area resident, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona. Frances was born March 27, 1928 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to George and Marie (Wolf) Schaaf. During her adolescent years until graduation, she helped her family by working in the fields. They grew sugar beets, corn, beans, and potatoes. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1946. Frances started her working career as an operator with the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company in July of 1946. She retired on November 6, 1982 after 36 plus years as a commercial representative. On March 28, 1948 she married George Wambolt. To this union one daughter, Sheri Lynn was born on November 27, 1959. She died in September of 1960. Frances was a member of the Lutheran Church of our Redeemer. Mrs. Wambolt was also past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, past Matron of the Easter Star, Chapter #54, past president of both the active and retired Northern Colorado Telephone Pioneers, and past president of the Prairie Mountain Council. After retirement, the Wambolts purchased a home in Mesa, Arizona, and for many years they were part time Colorado and part time Arizona residents. Frances is survived by her sister, Betty June Lebsock of Fort Morgan, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Sheri Lynn, and her parents. At her request there will be no funeral services. Burial will be Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
