Obituary

Fred Sagel, 94, lifelong area resident died on January 6, 2017 at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.

Fred was born on the family farm, July 7, 1922 near Fort Morgan to David and Anna Weimer Sagel. He had six brothers and sisters, David, Carl, Jake, Lydia, and Carolyn. Marie passed away as an infant.

He graduated from Fort Morgan highschool in 1941. After highschool he played 2nd base for some of the city baseball leagues.

He married Donna Yager, the love of his life, in Fort Morgan August 17, 1952. They had two children, Randy Sagel and Rhonda Frasier.

Fred farmed with Donna in the Weldona, Wiggins, and Fort Morgan areas for most of his life. He worked at Great Western Sugar during winter campaigns. He purchased his own farm south of Fort Morgan in 1970, where he worked until ill health forced his retirement in 1996. He truly loved farm life.

He was a lifelong member of Immanual Evangelical Church. He sang in the men's chorus and the choir for many years. He sang bass in the men's quartet. He loved to sing songs for his family and friends.

Nothing made him happier than his family. He deeply loved his grandchildren. He never missed their events. He was always interested in their life and happiness. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He had a big personality. He was friendly, outgoing, and made friends where ever he went. He especially liked to tell jokes and make people laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Donna Sagel; son Randy Sagel; granddaughter Alisha Sagel; great grandchildren Jason and Jayden Renka; daughter Rhonda Sagel-Frasier and Linn Frasier; grandchildren Janelle Frasier and Aaron Bongard; Daniel Frasier and Christina Haws-Frasier; great grandchildren Ethan, Josiah, and Elijah Frasier; his sisters Lydia Hoffmann and Carolyn Helmut; also Eileen Sagel and Evelyn Sagel and many neices and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, David and Anna Sagel; his brothers David Sagel, Carl Sagel, and Jake Sagel, sister, Marie Sagel; also Rachel Sagel, Conrad Hoffmann, and Victor Helmut.

A Memorial Service will be at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 318 W. Seventh Ave. in Fort Morgan on Thursday, January 19th at 10:30AM. Inurment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
