Obituary

Frend John Miner of Fort Morgan, died on Monday May 9, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital (formerly Colorado Plains Medical Center) in Fort Morgan. He was 93 years of age.

Frend John Miner was born on December 8, 1928, in Loveland, CO to parents, Joseph Raymond Miner and Florence Ann Miner. Mr. Miner graduating from the University of Colorado (BS) and Oregon State University (MS, PHD) as an analytical chemist.

After returning from Oregon, Mr. Miner accepted a position with the Department of Energy, Rocky Flats Plant, in Golden, CO, in 1954 and spent his entire working career at Rocky Flats, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he taught high school chemistry and worked at H&R Block for a brief time. He married Marjorie Walker on April 20, 1958, in Boulder, and they raised two daughters. Mrs. Miner passed away in 1993.

Mr. Miner resettled in Fort Morgan, CO, in 2005, with his partner, Jeff Lawhead. He was a member of the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church and participated enthusiastically in Water Aerobics, the Friends of the Fort Morgan Library and the Colorado cultural scene attending plays, operas and Broadway touring shows at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

Mr. Miner is survived by his daughters, Susan Miner (Aileen Donnelly) of Dublin, Ireland, and Katherine Rahman (Zia Rahman (Deceased)) of Williamsburg, VA; his grandsons, Haroun Rahman of Maryland, and Kamran Rahman of Washington, D.C. and Noor Rahman of Virginia. He is also survived by his spouse, Jeff Lawhead of Fort Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; and his son-in-law, Zia Rahman.

Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
