Obituary

Galynn R. Wendling, 70, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008, at his home in Haxtun, CO. He was born July 15, 1938, in Fort Morgan, CO. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1956. Following graduation, Galynn served in the US Navy. After his discharge, Galynn attended Colorado State University where he received his bachelor's degree and later his master's degree. Galynn taught school at Wiggins, Byers and Morgan Community College. He taught biology, served as guidance counselor, and was a recruiter at Morgan Community College. He retired from teaching in 1985. He later worked at the Fort Morgan Golf Course as assistant golf pro, a position he held for 9 years. Galynn married Linda Roland on December 22, 1971, in Fort Morgan. In 1998, The Wend ling's moved to Haxtun. He was a life member of BPOE (Elks) Lodge #743; and was the first president of Fort Morgan Men's Golf Association. Galynn was passionate about golf, enjoyed music (writing, singing, playing a guitar and keyboard), and enjoyed sports including local high school, college and professional. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Haxtun; 1 son, Jason of Haxtun; 2 daughters from a previous marriage; 1 sister, Garnette Stiles, and her husband, Bud, of Fort Collins; 1 nephew, Scott; and 2 nieces, Susan & Margaret. A celebration service will be held Friday, September 12, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 1300 E. Riverview in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in the United Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
