Gary then attended college at Mankato State University where he received his Bachler's degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. During his time in High school and College he worked at Endersons Men's Clothing store. From that point on Gary was always very meticulous with his clothing and how he dresses, he reminisced throughout his life of his enjoyment while working there.
Gary learned the skill of house painting and enjoyed this career. The Alpha Paint Doctor was in business for over 30 years in the Boulder County area where his clients became his friends.

Growing up in southern Minnesota, Gary did a lot of hunting and fishing with his father and continued the hobby, as long as he was physically/mentally able to do so. He enjoyed teaching others about firearms, archery, fishing and being outdoors.
When his daughters were young, they started riding horses, which lead to purchasing horses, taking them to 4-H and horse shows. Gary enjoyed being part of their hobby and got into riding as well, but he mostly, enjoyed being around the horses and the therapy they offered.
Gary married Rita Beatrice Nowak in 1970 in Fairmont and returned to Rita's home state of Colorado 4 years later. Gary fell in love with the warmer climate and beautiful scenery. They lived in the Boulder County area where they raised their daughters, until they went different paths.
Gary remarried a few years later to Charlene Lyon whom he met at church. They were married for 26 years and in that time, they traveled all over the world including Singapore, Italy, New York, and Alaksa to name a few.
In 2016 Gary moved to the Weldona Valley and enjoyed living on his daughter's farm until it became too difficult for him to live in his RV without assistance. He moved to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center where he was well cared for and well liked by many.
Everywhere Gary went, he made friends and talked to everyone. He loved to socialize, make his famous apple pie and eat hot roast beef sandwiches!
