Gary L. Rasmussen, 64, lifelong Colorado resident passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home in Wiggins. Gary was born March 21, 1952 in Denver to Ambrose and Lois (Wilber) Rasmussen.

Gary married Karen Olsen on April 25, 1970 in Wheatridge. He was a member of the Wiggins Community Church. He enjoyed spending his time building model ships, woodworking and collecting antique tools. When he wasn't busy building, he would spend time watching Jeopardy or old westerns on T.V. Although he had many hobbies in life, his family was his greatest enjoyment of all.

He is survived by his wife Karen, six children, Gary (Stella) Rasmussen Jr., Stephanie (Matt) Heitman, Andy (JJ) Rasmussen, Tim Rasmussen, Bridget (Chris) Sandoval and Ginger (Dustin) Weller ; three sisters, Dianne Lorance, Penny Mann and Tammy Rees; one brother, Opie Nixon; 20 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his mother Lois Nixon.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose; step-father Herman Nixon and one brother Kenny Nixon.

A memorial service will by Friday, April 22 nd at 1:00 PM at Wiggins Community Church in Wiggins. Family requests in honor of Gary to please wear blue.
