Gay G. Garrett, 56, of Hillrose died Sunday afternoon at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born December 17, 1950 in Denver to Francis Wlliam "Bill"and Marie (Reiter) Garrett. Gay served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp in Okinawa Japan during the Vietnam War. He married Cindy Nordholm September 29, 1973 in Longmont. They lived in Hot Sulfur Springs for 14 years where Gay worked in the Amax molybdenum mine working on the electrical locomotives. They moved north of Ft. Morgan where Gay worked for Jack Odor Engineering and later for the Earth Engineering Consultants. Gay and Cindy started their own company C&G Data Collections and Observations in the Wind Turbine industry. They moved to Hillrose but have spent most of the past few years traveling all over the USA and Canada working on several wind turbine projects. He was a member of the Snyder Bible Church, and was attending the Hillrose Community Church. Gay enjoyed listening to Christians Charles Swindoll and Dr. Charles Stanley when he was on the road away from his church. Gay enjoyed fishing woodworking, gardening and shooting sporting clays, he especially enjoyed being with his family and visiting with friends. He is survived by his wife Cindy of Hillrose, his daughters Jeri Garrett of Hillrose, and Teri Garrett of Berthoud, and one sister Glee Myrant of Castle Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at the Snyder Bible Church in Snyder. The American Legion will be conducting military honors.
