Obituary

Gene Milburn, 84, life resident of Morgan County, died suddenly early Sunday, November 02, 2008, at his home. He was born June 6, 1924, in Brush, to Elmer & Sarah Messer. Gene was raised south of Brush and attended the Gary School. He married Betty (York) Neuschwanger on June 13, 1948 in Brush. Gene worked as the Conoco Bulk Oil Distributor in Brush and Fort Morgan area for 35 years. After retiring, Gene read electric meters for REA, managed the Super 8 Motel in Fort Morgan and Yuma, and sold used cars and worked part time for the Ace Hardware Store in Brush. He enjoyed keeping active, square dancing, listening to country music, watching western movies, selling cars and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Brush; 4 children, Larry Milburn of Arvada, CO; Donna Goeken, and her husband, Tom, of Brush, Judy Wickham, and her husband, Howard, of Fort Morgan, and Janet Judah, and her husband, Darrell, of Wellington, CO; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Sandoz of Montrose, CO. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmunds and Tommy; three sisters, Flossie Vondy, Carrie Reynolds, and Dorothy Axtell; and his parents. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Wednesday from 2 – 5 PM and Thursday morning from 10 – 12.
