John Eugene Smith, 88, of Loveland, CO, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was born September 16, 1929, in Decatur, IN to Jay & Anna Marie Smith.

On June 6, 1948, Gene married Wanda Stirn in Lima, OH. Prior to retirement Gene worked as an electronics designer for Honeywell, Teledyne, and Hewlett Packard.

Gene attended Galilee Baptist in Loveland. He enjoyed working on his computer, camping & traveling, and doing volunteer maintenance work for several Christian organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Loveland; 2 children, Jay of Carbondale, CO and Anna (Terry) Larsen of Brush, CO; 2 grandchildren, Reesa & Burke; and a sister, Ruth Dorsey of Madison, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters, Verena Warner, Charlotte and Grace Van Fossen, and Naomi Bates.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 2:00 at the Galilee Baptist Church, 2525 Van Buren Ct. in Loveland. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 – 2:00. Concluding services and interment will be at the Brush Memorial Cemetery, Brush, CO, on Thursday, November 2, at 11:30. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.heermortuary.com.
