George
Canfield
Jun 19, 1948 — Feb 1, 2018
He was born June 19, 1948 to Harold and Wilma Canfield in Fort Morgan.
George served in Okinawa for two years and was a decorated Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, receiving a Rifle Expert Badge and a National Defense Service Medal.
He received a teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and went on to teach English and theater in Burlington, Colorado. He then returned to Fort Morgan to drill water wells with his father. George was co-owner of Canfield Drilling Company until his retirement in December 2015.
On September 24, 1977 he married the love of his life, Connie, and they recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.
Second to spending time with his precious granddaughters, he loved finding water and riding his Harley Davidson. He and his daughter made the trip to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota for 25 years. He also enjoyed landscaping, spending time with friends, and working on his vehicles. He had a unique and kind spirit and his laugh was contagious.
George is survived by his wife, Connie of Fort Morgan; daughter, Teresa Canfield Risser and son-in-law, Jim Risser of Greeley; granddaughters, Paige and Brooke Risser of Greeley; and brothers-in-law, Junior, Terry (Marilyn) Stuart Krien of Fort Morgan.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 10:00 AM at the Sanctuary in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery with a celebration of life at the American Legion Hall.
Friends who wish may make memorials to the American Legion Post 19 in Fort Morgan in honor of Military Veterans.
