George Dardanes Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. He was born December 22, 1919, in Folsom, NM to George & ruth Dardanes. He graduated from high school in Branson, CO. George and his family operated a Greek & Italian cheese factory in Trinchera and Trinidad, CO and sent cheese on railroad box cars to Chicago for distribution along the east coast. On June 17, 1940, George married Edwina Archuletta in Demming, NM. For a short time, he worked for the New Mexico Port of Entry. He also operated a ranch for several years. He and Edwina operated the Down Town Motel in Trinidad from 1967 until 1999. George loved visiting with people. He also enjoyed working around his motel, working with livestock and horses. In 1999 George & Edwina moved to Brush to be closer to their son and his family. They attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Survivors include his wife, Edwina of Brush; 1 son, Jim, and his wife Margie of Brush; 3 grandchildren: Stacie Gilmore and her husband Scott; Greg, and his wife, Gina; and Aaron; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, 2 sisters, and his parents. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Sunday from 2:30 - 4:00 followed by a rosary service at 4:00 at the mortuary. Funeral mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 340 Stanford Street in Brush on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery
