Gerald "Jerry" Ostwald, 67, longtime Ft. Morgan resident died early Thursday morning at the North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit following a lengthy battle with Leukemia. He was born March 30, 1943 in Ft. Morgan to Reinhold and Nellie Ostwald. He joined the United States Army serving in Germany. Jerry married Gloria Schott November 28th 1965 in Ft. Morgan. They lived in Leadville for a few years where he worked as a miner. They moved back to Ft. Morgan where he began his 33 year career working for the Morgan County Quality Water District. He retired in 2009. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with their camper, watching Nascar sports and most of all spending time with his family, grandchildren and his friends. He is survived by his wife Gloria of Ft. Morgan, his son Gary Ostwald of Sterling, his daughter Shelly Bail and her husband Tom of Eaton, two grandchildren Dalton Duncan and Dallas Duncan both of Eaton, and three sisters Eileen Heltenberg of Evans, Carol Covelli of Weldona, and Cathy Ostwald of Brush. He was preceded in death by one brother James Ostwald and his parents. A visitation will be held on Tuesday 3-5 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The service will conclude at the Church.
