Geraldine "Geri" Midcap, 89, of Fort Morgan, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Geri was born in Fort Morgan on September 9, 1926 to John A. & Anna (Koch) Schauermann. She graduated from high school in 1944 and moved to San Francisco where she worked for the Chamber of Commerce. Later, she returned to Denver where she also worked for the chamber. Geri married William R. Midcap on June 7, 1946. They made their home in Fort Lupton until Bill was called back to serve with the Marines in Korea. In 1952 they moved to the farm on which Geri grew up. In 1980 they retired and moved into town in Fort Morgan. In 2010 Geri made her home at Beehive Assisted Living in Fort Morgan. Geri worked for Production Credit Association and retired in 1986, after which, she did volunteer work at the hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and she was active in aquatic classes. Geri's hobbies included playing bridge, sewing, ceramics, and making cards and porcelain dolls. She is survived by her children, Lynda & Dave Hilferty of Madrid, NE, Bill & Sharon Midcap of Fort Morgan, Janice & Lee Schull of Watertown, SD, and Jenese & Steve Hankins of Fort Morgan; her grandchildren, Kristi Hopkins, Travis & Kiplyn Hopkins, Kellie Kava, Nate & Jolyn Midcap, Traci & Sam Lee, Erin Midcap, Becky Edson, Kyle Schull, Andrea & Chad Horton, Katie & David Henry, Kari Schull, and Collin Schull, twelve great grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Graham of Newberg, OR. Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; four brothers, one sister; and her granddaughter, Beth Wood. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 6th at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation and sent to Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
