Gertrude L. Stratton, 84, formerly of Brush Colorado, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Callaway, Nebraska. Gertie was born June 4, 1930 in Denver, Colorado to Adam and Katie (Bathauer) Bellender. On May 10, 1950, Gertie married Lawrence Stratton Jr., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. To this union three children were born. Gertie cooked at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center and at Central Elementary School for many years. She was a life time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Gertie loved to cross stitch, and tend to her beautiful flower gardens she had over the years. She also loved camping, fishing and hosting family gatherings. Gertie was loved by the many residents and staff of the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway Nebraska where she has spent the last three years. Survivors include her children; Debbie (Daniel) Johnson of North Platte, Nebraska, Randy (Sue) Stratton of Callaway, Nebraska, and Tim (Cathy) Stratton of Castaic, California; her grandchildren, Wendy Kilber, Cathy Meisel, R.D. Stratton, Travis Stratton, Nicole Stratton, Michelle Stratton, David Stratton and also five great grandchildren and brothers, Pete, Adam, sisters Katie, Molly, Rosie, Helen and Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior, her parents, her sisters Mary, Annie, infant sister Rosie, and great grandson Travis. A scripture service will be held at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM . Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
