Gilbert Baltazar, 78, Fort Morgan resident for over 40 years, passed away early Sunday, February 1, 2015 at his home. He was born January 13, 1937 in Pueblo to Gonzalo & Maria Baltazar. Gilbert attended Fort Morgan High School where he was active in Wrestling, winning many awards. He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1954, and he was honorably discharged in 1957. Gilbert lived in California for 36 years where had a 34 year career with General Dynamics - Hughes Aircraft Division where his main focus was building and designing missiles for the U.S. Navy. Gilbert received many awards and honors throughout his long career. Gilbert enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, landscaping, in addition to remodeling his homes. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Debra Dolph of Fort Morgan; his five children, Diana Baltazar, Patricia Baltazar, and Gene Baltazar, all of Victorville, CA, Loreen Baltazar of Summerville, TN, and Evelyn Strader of Lancaster, CA; his step daughters, Heather Moore of Lompoc, CA, and Tracie Gunnufson of Fort Collins; his brothers, Tony and Bob, both of Fort Morgan, Nick of Evans, Gonzalo Jr. of Denver; his sisters, Terry Brown of Evans, Anna O'Toole of La Verne, CA, Anita Baltazar-Ruppel of Fort Morgan, Dora Simms of Cameron Park, CA, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Thursday, February 5th from 4 - 7 PM with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 6th at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
