Gina Marie Keenan-Heepke died peacefully in her home on October 3rd after an extended battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a talented businesswoman.

Gina was born in Rocky Ford, CO on April 25th, 1957. She spent her early years in Schaller, Iowa before the family moved to Fort Morgan in 1964. Gina graduated from Fort Morgan High School and from Western State College in Gunnison, CO where she earned a degree in Business Management and English.

She married Daniel Heepke August 23rd, 1977. The two purchased a farm north of Fort Morgan, where they resided for the next forty-five years. For much of that time, Gina was an insurance agent with her family's company, Goetz Insurers. She was an excellent agent, possessed of an incisive mind capable of solving the most complex issues, especially related to commercial lines insurance. She loved to ski, travel, read good (and bad) novels, watch good (and bad) television, and listen to loud music. She was a fine cook.

Gina is survived by her husband, Daniel; two children, Isabella (Raymond) Heepke-Laws and Maxfield (Jennifer) Heepke; and one grandchild, Theodore Laws. She is also survived by her parents, Barbara and Robert Keenan; her step-mother, Linda Figliolino; and by her two sisters, Michelle Keenan-Harte and Alexandra Keenan. She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. She was brilliant and tough, a true original.

The family is planning a memorial service for Gina on November 5th at 10:30am at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heifer International, Food Bank of the Rockies, or any organization working to lift up others.
