Ginny
Mccracken
Mar 19, 1929 — Feb 25, 2025
Miriam Virginia "Ginny" Sagel McCracken ,95, passed away on February 25, 2025, in Brush, Colorado.
Born on March 19, 1929, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, Ginny grew up in a close-knit rural family and carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout her life. She began her career at Mountain Bell in Fort Morgan at the time when calls were made through the old-fashioned switchboards. She retired at Yellow Pages through A T & T, receiving a pension and a lifelong medical insurance benefit that she had earlier walked a picket line to earn.
Ginny was a devoted mother to Shaun (Kim) McCracken; Jan (Dan) Schiller; Jill McCracken; and Kurt (Susan) McCracken. She took great pride in her family and was the beloved grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of fifteen. She also leaves behind a sister, Eloise (Conrad) Hanson of Goodland, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David H and Pauline Scheidt Sagel, sisters and brothers in law Renee and Jack Young and Lavonne and Everett Lage, and brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Carole Sagel. She was also predeceased by son Kurt McCracken in 2013.
Ginny had a talent for nurturing, whether it was through her green thumb that kept multiple indoor plants thriving or the outdoor pots she lovingly tended. She was a wonderful cook who could whip up a delicious family meal complete with lemon meringue pie in no time. She enjoyed singing with the senior group and especially treasured the many summer days spent at Jackson Lake with her children. In spite of the inevitable sandy bologna sandwiches and sunburn at the end of the day, these remained some of her fondest memories. She was lovingly cared for by dedicated, kind staff at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center for many years.
A private family inurnment will take place on Ginny's birthday, March 19, 2025, in Fort Morgan.
