Gladys L. Campbell, 92, a resident of the Brush community for over 50 years, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. She was born March 21, 1915, in Brush, to James & Lena Clark. She attended the Brush schools. On November 15, 1936, Gladys married Arthur J. Schippert in Windsor, CO. The Schippert family lived in various communities in NE Colorado where Gladys cooked in several different cafes. In 1957 she went to work at B & B Pharmacy where she worked for 6 years. On October 30,1963, Gladys married A. B. Campbell in Sidney, NE. In 1965 the Campbell's left Brush and traveled for 18 months. The Campbell's then lived in Yuma, CO until 1971 when they moved to Limon, CO. Gladys continued to cook at a friend's restaurant until ill health forced her retirement. Following A. B.'s death in 1979, Gladys worked for the Limon Housing Authority. After 16 years in Limon, Gladys moved back to Brush to be closer to her family. Music was very much a part of Gladys' life, especially old hymns and gospel music. She taught herself to play the organ and piano, and also enjoyed doing crafts. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Stanley "Skip" Schippert, and his wife, Roberta, of Fort Collins, CO; Bernita Way, and her husband, Clayton, of Lodgepole, NE; Jim Schippert, and his wife, Barbara of Snyder, CO; and Arlene Law of Chappell, NE; a step-daughter, Bonita Samples, and her husband, John, of Travelers Rest, SC; 1 sister, Luella Schippert of Snyder, CO; 12 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 6 great - great grandchildren, 1 step great - great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 sister, 6 brothers, 1 great - great granddaughter, and her parents. A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Brush Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
