Obituary

Gladys M. Walker, 84, life resident of northeastern Colorado, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born October 2, 1927, in Friend, KS, to Charles & Ruby Pickett. Gladys married Jacob Walker and they farmed in the Hillrose community together with their son, Jim. Gladys was very active in the Hillrose community and the old Hillrose School. She was a member of the Hillrose Methodist Church. She enjoyed polka dancing, cooking, working with horses, and her grandchildren. She also volunteered at the food panty in Akron. She also will be remembered for her many years of work at the Scotch 'n Steer Restaurant in Brush. Survivors include her sons, Jim Walker, and his wife Jodie, of Loveland, CO; and Rex Walker of McAlester, OK; 3 brothers, Harley Pickett of Fort Collins, Don Pickett and Larry Pickett both of Denver; and 1 sister Bonnie Newton of Fort Morgan; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob "Horse Jake"; 1 son Dick Walker, 1 granddaughter, Jeni Hastings; 8 brothers 2 sisters, and her parents. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer. The service will conclude at the church. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center c/o the Heer & Dahl Mortuaries.
