Glen "Rowdy" J. Yates, 73, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his home in Brush. He was born May 18, 1940, in Fort Morgan to William J. & Vivian Yates. Following graduation from high school, Glen served in the US Navy from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1961. On March 3, 1968, Glen married Claudia Henson in Fort Morgan. Prior to retirement, Glen worked as a certified diesel mechanic. He had worked at Mohrlang Mfg from 1980 - until 1992. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge of Morgan County and VFW #2551. Glen enjoyed shooting guns of all types, including pistols, rifles and black powder guns. He emjoyed motorcycling in his younger years. When his boys were young, Glen enjoyed volunteering when his boys were in Boy Scout. His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Claudia of Brush; 4 children, Glen of Bailey, CO, Claudia Moos of Ft. Benning, GA, Grace Jones of Phoenix, AZ; and Scott of Fort Morgan; 1 sister, Linda of Olympia, WA and 1 brother, William of Neligh, NE; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Evelyn & Marie, and his parents. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. The service will conclude at the church. The Heer Crematory was entrusted with cremation arrangements.
