Obituary

Glenda M. Morgan, 88, of Golden, Colorado passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024.

She was born in Silt, Colorado on August 18, 1935, the fourth of five children born to Arthur and Wilma Bierschied (née Hancock).

Glenda married her childhood sweetheart, Larry Morgan, on June 28, 1953, and they remained happily married for 59 years. Both were graduates of Fruita High School. The young couple were displaced when Larry was drafted in 1956, but they eventually settled in the foothills where they raised their two sons, John and James.

Glenda was invested in her local community, serving as a den mother for the Boy Scout troop throughout the 1970s. In later decades, she regularly prepared meals and provided childcare for her local church; she also frequently hosted and led prayer and study groups. On rare occasions, she left her much-loved home to attend Aglow conferences nationwide and to make two pilgrimages to the Holy Land.

Coming from a card-playing family, she loved bridge and pinochle. Glenda had fallen in love with an athletic young man in Larry, but her own love of sports, particularly of cheering on the Broncos and Rockies, grew with time.

She is survived by her sister Nancy Robedee, her brother-in-law Jim Franklin, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Joann Morgan (née Babcock), her cousin Carol Keller (née Smith), her sons, John and James, her daughter-in-law Diana Morgan (née Durbin), her granddaughter Maggie Morgan, her grandson Maxwell Morgan and his children, Michael, Nathan, Russell, and Isla, and by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Bierschied, her sisters Patricia Tuckness and Mary Lou Franklin, and by her beloved husband.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Newbridge Fellowship (11500 W. 13th Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado). There will be a private inurnment at Pleasant Park Cemetery, Conifer, Colorado.
