Obituary

Glenn Foard Shirley, 72, of Ft. Morgan, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Shirley was born on January 25, 1949, in Arlington, VA and was a son of the late Douglas Franklin Shirley and Thelma Foard Shirley of Madison, VA. Glenn left Virginia in his early 20's to come west settling in Colorado. Early on Glenn owned and operated Sunshine Auto, a repair shop in Aurora. It was in this shop he customized a 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery that he called "Special Delivery." He would regularly race it at the local drag strip with family and friends.

Later he owned and operated Saguache Creek Lodge and RV Park in Saguache, CO. It was in this motel that he found his love and passion for the mountains.

For the past 20 years, Glenn managed a cattle ranch south of Ft. Morgan for (Freund & Company). Many will tell you Glenn was always available to help in any way and would often lend a hand to the elderly. He prided himself in being a "Mr. Fixit".

In his last days he relished talking shop with any race drivers and car enthusiasts, following nearly all NHRA events.

Anyone who knew Glenn would tell you he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and actively served in a number of churches throughout his life. Glenn was a testimony of the power of God to transform a life once your life is surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus. He was quick to provide his input in the life of the church. He was always willing to help from cutting grass and fixing doors to running sound for Life Fellowship worship team.

Glenn was devoted to his wife, Monica, whom he married on November 24, 2015. He is also survived by his daughter Jenny Peterson and her two children of Austin, TX; his son Justin Shirley in Littleton; his daughter Dusty Smith in Denver; his son Douglas Shirley and wife Savannah and their four children in Aurora; and his daughter Megan Keaveny and husband William in Aurora. He is also survived by his brother, Brian Shirley and wife JoAnne of Afton, VA.
