Obituary

On this day, April 14, 2025, Glenna Newport, child of God, took her leave from this earth, making her way to eternal life. Glenna was born to Raymond and Zonia Paulson on September 12, 1946, with big brother Gerald waiting anxiously at home. Born a "blue baby," Glenna's parents always considered her a miracle child. She was raised in Blair, Nebraska, and Poysippi and Waupaca, Wisconsin, with her parents being professionals in ministry and nursing home administration, both of which kept the family on the move.  In 1965, the family came to Brush, her father accepting the administrator position and her mother becoming Director of Nursing at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.

Glenna took her first job in the kitchen at Eben Ezer with Florence Gates, Mrs. Richards, Goldie, and June Hansen. She also worked as a beauty salon assistant with June Tweet.

Glenna was first married to Wade Mack, who died unexpectedly nine days after the wedding. Her second marriage was to Ricky Newport, and a son, Sherman, was born to the marriage.

Glenna was a faithful member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, on the Altar Guild, Vacation Bible School leader, and Bible study participant. When she transferred her membership to All Saints Church after moving to Eben Ezer, she served on the church council, participated in Bible study, and was part of the weekly bulletin assembly team, which she loved doing. Her hobbies included embroidery, reading, walking, and liftin up prayer requests for others.

Survivors include her son, Sherman (Gina) Newport; sister Gwen Murrow; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and lots of friends. She is preceded in death by her father and mother; brother, Jerry Paulson; and sister, Gloria Wieman.

A graveside remembrance service will be held for Glenna at the Eben Ezer Cemetery Monday, April 21, 2025 at 1:30 PM.
