Gloria Elaine Thiel of Fort Morgan, Colorado left her family and friends to be with Jesus on September 28, 2026.
Gloria was born November 13, 1944 in Ft. Morgan to Anna and Henry Thiel. Gloria was the youngest of 12 children. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Anna (Jake)Becker, Hank (Doris) Thiel, Lillian (Adolph) Miller, Chester Chiara Sr., Jake (Naomi) Thiel, Ruth (James) Glantz, Florence (Don) Uhrmacher, Jeanette (Robert) Hohnstein, Thomas Glasco, Fernando Silva and Miriam (Harold) Rasmussen. She is survived by Frieda Chiara, Priscilla Glasco, Paul (Donna) Thiel. Aunt Glo had countless nieces and nephews, along with generations of great-nieces and great-nephews who adored her and her big pink kisses.
Gloria graduated from Ft. Morgan High with the class of 1963. She participated in GAA, pep club, pacemaker staff, and choir. From a young age Gloria was very good at keeping records. Which made her an excellent secretary as a young profession. She received rave reviews from owners of the furniture store she worked for while living in Hastings Neb. She was called back home to Fort Morgan to care for her elder parents. She worked for several places like the Chamber of Commerce, Western Sugar and Kmart. And many years as a caretaker for a lady in Holyoke several days a week.
One of the most exciting moments in Gloria's life came in 1984 when she won a car through a KIMN Radio contest in Denver. Although she lived outside the Denver metro area, she was determined to enter. She requested a KIMN bumper sticker by mail, placed it on the back of her trusty 1969 Ford Fairlane, snapped a photo, sent in the picture along with her license plate number, and hoped for the best. Her perseverance paid off. Gloria won the contest and became the proud owner of a Mercedes. From then on, everyone knew that when the Mercedes rolled up, Gloria would step out wearing her signature flashy glasses, ready to brighten the day. Her arrival always brought smiles, laughter, and a little extra sparkle wherever she went.
Gloria was a character and doted by all her older siblings. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
A Funeral service for Gloria will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan on Monday, October 12th at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reception with lunch back at Trinity Lutheran. Memorial donations may be made in her name to your favorite church or non-profit.
“Great persons are able to do great kindnesses.” Gloria Elaine Thiel
