Goldie Rosie Hawthorne, 93, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

She was born March 12, 1925 in Bennett, Colorado to Henry and Matilda (Peters) Diercks.

Goldie married Robert Rexford Hawthorne on November 3, 1947 in Raton, New Mexico. They lived south of Watkins, Colorado for most of her adult life. He died in 2010.

Goldie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and doing embroidery work. She made her children's clothes, and also made and sold clothing for people she knew.

She liked to travel and she and her husband took trips to numerous states, including Alaska, and also made it into Canada. Goldie got into genealogy and could trace her family on both sides clear back to Europe. She also helped on a book about the people and past goings on in the Bennett area that has been published and is in some of the local libraries.

Survivors include, sons, Rex Hawthorne (Jeannie) of Wiggins, and Ben Hawthorne (Linda) of Haxton, grandchildren, Matt Hawthorne (Brandy) of Thornton, Michelle Nelson (Johnny) of Fort Morgan, Jessica Lemmel (Nick) of Ogallala, Nebraska, Jeff Hawthorne of Fort Collins, and seven great grandchildren.

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and twelve siblings.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 4 until 6 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

Graveside Funeral Services will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Bennett Cemetery in Bennett, Colorado.

Memorial Gifts may be given to the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
