Obituary

GOLDIE PROPP, 95, of Fort Morgan, died Monday morning, November 28, 2011 at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron. She was born December 24, 1915 in Hays, Kansas to Alex & Magoalena (Gabel) Stecklein. Goldie's parents moved the family to Comptan, CA where she attended school until the 4th grade. They then moved to Cortez, CO and then to Fort Morgan when she was 16 years old. On May 4, 1935, she married Alexander Propp. They lived at the same residence for 52 years. She and Alex decorated their home every year for Christmas with decorations that lit up the whole street. They won many first places throughout their years of decorating. She lived in her current home for more than 14 years until she had to enter the nursing home. Goldie's family was very important to her. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also helped her neighbors whenever she was needed. She loved working in her yard. Goldie was also quite a dancer from the time that she was young until she was in her 80's. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Brush where she made many friends. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Bill) Brownlee of Akron; her son-in-law, Ernest Hamann of Fort Morgan; her grandchildren, Cathy (Anthony) Banuelos of Fort Morgan, Rodney (Kerri) Hamann of Morrison, CO, Patty (Fazil) Brownlee-Cakmak of Belmont, MA, and Bill (Jeanne) Brownlee of Peoria, AZ; and her great grandchildren, Belinda and Emelio Banuelos of Fort Morgan, Quinn and Kole Hamann of Morrison, CO, Alex and Jenna Brownlee of Peoria, AZ, and Neyla Cakmak of Belmont, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Benard and Robert; her sisters, Alvina and Betty; her husband, Alex; her daughter, Dolores Hamann; and her granddaughter, Pamela Sue Brownlee. Visitation will be Friday, December 2nd from 4 – 6 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3rd at 10:30 AM, also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society or to Forever Friends.
