Gordon Samuel Cook was born in Arvada, CO on August 23, 1933 to Frederick Leroy Cook & Jessie May Daigle. He entered into eternal glory with his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2018 at the age of 84.

As a true Colorado native, Gordon was born in the Arvada, CO area and later moved to ranch 9 miles northwest of Snyder, CO. He began his public education in the Arvada schools but after his father homesteaded a parcel of land northwest of Snyder, he continued his education in a typical little one room country school in Morgan County where he graduated from the eighth grade. He continued his education at Snyder High School where he received his High School Diploma.

Gordon joined the U.S. Navy in November of 1951 and married Clarice D. Williams on May 4, 1952. They were married for 65 years. After completing his initial training in San Diego, he assigned to the destroyer, the USS Twining, DD540 as a Machinist Mate where he spent his duty working in the engine room of the ship. While serving aboard the Twining, they spent much of his tour sailing out of Wonson Harbor during the Korean War. Gordon received numerous commendations during his four years of his active duty in the Navy: The National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, and the China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty in November of 1955. He returned to Colorado to continue his civilian life, however, he continued in the Naval Reserves until November of 1959.

Gordon worked at East Denver Lumber Company as a Mill Operator and Delivery Driver from 1959 until 1965 where he took a job with the Ralston Purina Company, working there for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He spent several years working part-time at the Hugh M. Woods Store in Henderson, and then spent the remainder of his working days at the Coyote Creek Golf Course in Fort Lupton. Gordon and his wife Clarice were also active in the Chapel Hill Church in Brighton.

Gordon was preceded in death by his baby son, Gordon Lee; his parents, Fred & Jessie Cook; Clarice's parents, Robert & Gladys Williams; and his eldest sister, Dorothy Cochran.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice; three sons, Randy, Lanny, and Danny, along with their wives, Judy, Debbie, and Pam; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren as well as three sisters, Kathleen, Florence, Pauline; a brother-in-law, Robert Williams; and sister-in-law, Lily Bingham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 14th at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 222 Cameron St., Brush, CO 80723.
