Gordon D. Hanson, 75, passed away Thursday at his home in Fort Morgan, CO. He was born June 11, 1931, in Stoughton, WI to Clarence & Alice Hanson. He served in the Korean War in the US Navy. 1956 Gordon married Dorothy Hildendorf. That marriage ended in divorce 1982. In 1982 Gordon moved to Fort Morgan. On October 8, 1983, he married Debra Vanderheiden in Brush. Gordon worked as a licensed clinical social worker. He was appointed deputy director, and later director of Centennial Mental Health Center for eastern Colorado. Before ill health forced his retirement, Gordon was a member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, and Lions Club. Gordon enjoyed doing whatever he could to help people. He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, playing golf, and spending time with this family. Gordon loved to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was an avid spectator for sports and enjoyed german shepherd dogs. Survivors include his wife, Debra of Fort Morgan; 2 daughters, Judy Nefos and Beth Savolt both of Sterling, CO; his former wife, Dorothy Hanson also of Sterling; 1 sister, Sharon O'Malley of Joliet, IL; 1 ½ brother, Don Hanson of Bangor, ME; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, a half-brother, and his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 10:30 P.M. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors . Family will receive friends at the visitation from 4 - 7 PM on Monday at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary.
