Obituary

Guy Lawrence Cook passed away at his home surrounded by his family on September 10 th , 2022.  He was born to George and Margaret Cook on April 2 nd , 1946.  Guy was the youngest child and he has two surviving older siblings, Dr. Thomas Cook and Gay Sladky.  Guy's childhood was in Chicago, IL.  He attended Taft High School with Terry Vana.  Guy started dating his wife, Terry in 1963, however the assassination of President John F Kennedy cancelled their first date, which was an ROTC dance.  He attended Northwestern University and University of Illinois for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry.  On Jan 25 th , 1969, Guy and Terry married.  He attended Southern Illinois University for his master's and PhD in Biochemistry. Guy enlisted in the United State Air Force and received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine .  His internship was completed at Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri and his occupational medicine residency was completed in San Antonio, TX.  Guy was stationed at several bases during his active duty in the Air Force and concluded at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Spring, CO, after promoting to major.  Guy continued to work as a Board-Certified Occupational Doctor in the civilian sector for many years and he retired in Fort Morgan, CO in 2012.

Guy was passionate about his love for the mountains.  He loved to go hiking, camping, skiing, hunting and gold panning. He loved to take his family on vacations, touring many National Parks and historical sites.  Guy and Terry enjoyed camping on their property with their family and dogs near Glen Haven, CO for 37 years.

Guy is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Terry; their four children David, Cara Heid, Jeremy, and Zachary; their respective spouses, Kayla, Dustin, Valencia, and Courtney; and his seven grandchildren, Charlotte, Claire, Kimber, Ava, Everett, Sophie, and Jemma.
