Guy Linton Gould was born on March 25th of 1952 in Niwot, Colorado, to Frank and Carmen Gould. He was the third addition of five children. The story goes that he was born in a little yellow house just down the street from the plot of land that Frank would eventually build the house on which would end up being the Gould home for the next 60 years.

After graduating high school, Guy had a short stint at Denver Baptist Bible College where he met the small but beautiful, Sherry Hodges. The cowboy had walked right into his very own romantic comedy when, one morning, as he was walking up the stairs, and Sherry – on the same path – tripped, and Guy heroically caught her! Sherry would later say that meeting the tall, dark, and handsome cowboy changed her life. She would describe him as quiet and a slow mover, but hardworking and sweet. Guy would call Sherry kind and devoted and “oh, how she loved to laugh”. Eventually, Guy found himself on one knee, and on August 3rd, 1973, the two were married.

Soon, two would become three when, in 1974, they welcomed their first daughter, Shelisa. A year later, came Katrina, followed by Holly in 1977 and Clinton in 1980. Before they married, Guy bought his first small herd of cattle from a family friend. It was with that herd that the Gould Ranch Cattle Company was born. The first ranch was located up the Saint Vrain River Valley between Lyons and Estes Park, Colorado. The ranch quickly became a family affair with all the kids and Sherry helping with everything from moving cattle to working horses. As if ranching wasn’t enough, Guy also drove truck full time for Yellow Freight Systems for over 20 years. Over the decades the Gould Ranch would move from Colorado to Wyoming before settling back in the Fort Morgan area in 2004 where they made their final home.

If there is one thing that can be said about Guy, it is that he was a hard worker. Bad weather or sick days were not a concept for the man who had cattle to raise and horses to train. Many people knew that he understood horses & cattle far better than he understood people. While he was a cattleman, he was also very proud to be known for his large herd of foundation Quarter Horses that he raised and trained his entire adult life. He was a founding member and a judge for the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry as well as a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since 1970.

Guy will be remembered for his hardworking and determined mindset, his love of all things ranching, his love for Sherry, and for having accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in October of 1971; we rest knowing he is at His Saviors’ feet toiling no more.

Guy is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sherry; his father and mother, Frank and Carmen Gould, and sister, Cindy Bell. Guy is survived by his daughters: Shelisa & Bob Davis of Belle Fourche, SD, Katrina & Mike Dawson of Boring, OR, Holly & Jed Roark of Prescott, AZ; his son, Clinton Gould of Greeley, CO; and his 13 grandchildren: Cheyenne, Marytta, Guy, and Dalton (Sydney) Davis; Sydney, Levi, Wyatt, and Cole Dawson; Colton (Gracen) Roark, Fallon (Jacob) Todd, and Pake Roark; Conagher and Cash Gould; great-granddaughter Loretta Todd; his siblings, Gary (Glenda) Gould of Niwot, CO, Pat (Angie) Gould of Simpsonville SC, and Penny (Bill) Jump of Broomfield CO, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
