Obituary

HAROLD "DAN" CHILCOTE, 88, of Fort Morgan, died Monday evening, October 24, 2011 at the North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit in Greeley. He was born in Binkelman, NE on March 16, 1923 to Oral & Lethel (Griffith) Chilcote. He married Freda Ruth Dietz in Saint Francis, KS on April 6, 1947. Mrs. Chilcote died in 1996. He married Barbara (McFarland) Terrell on April 30, 2011 in Fort Morgan. Mr. Chilcote served in the Marines and was a WWII veteran. He was a bread runner for Butternut Bread Co. for a number of years and he also worked for Culligan for 8 years. Most recently, Mr. Chilcote managed the VFW Post in Fort Morgan. He was a life member of VFW Post 2551. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, and traveling—especially road trips. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Chilcote; two sons, Lance Chilcote and Larry Chilcote, all of Fort Morgan; his daughter, Linda Walter of Brush; two sisters, Eva Jones of Fort Morgan, Esther Dietz of Salt Lake City, UT, and Evelyne Meininger of Thornton; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his young brother, Loyal Wayne Chilcote; and his first wife, Freda Ruth Chilcote. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 29th at 10:30 AM at Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be made in Chilcote's memory to the Military Assistance Program in care of the VFW Post 2551, 208 West Beaver Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
