Obituary

Harold L. Finkner, 87, a longtime area farmer, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at his home in Fort Morgan.

Harold was born January 16, 1929 in Pawnee City, NE to Arthur & Emma (Diehm) Finkner. He attended school in Pawnee City where he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean Conflict where he traveled the world on the USS Manatee. He was honorably discharged from the service 1954.

Harold married Marion Hoffman in Fort Morgan on December 12, 1964. They had one daughter, Karen, and were married for 16 years before Marion's passing.

Starting as a young boy in Nebraska working on the family farm he spent his time planting crops with a team of horses and harvesting corn by hand. He developed a strong work ethic but never made it sound like life was work at all. He loved what he did, being a steward of the land. After moving from Nebraska to Fort Morgan with his parents and brother, Vernon, he farmed south of Fort Morgan for 50 years. His passion was his family and the farm. He enjoyed visiting with local farmers, his neighbors, and friends. Harold was a humble, God loving man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Roland and Vernon.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Karen Carpenter, and son-in-law, Danny of Fort Morgan; his grandson, Taylor; and granddaughter, Kaitlin.

Visitation will be Monday, January 16th from 4 – 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

A graveside service will Tuesday, January 17th at 2:00 PM in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
