Obituary

Harry H. Castrup, 86, life resident of Washington & Morgan Counties, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, while surrounded by his family at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born May 18, 1928, in Otis, to Robert & Augusta Castrup. Harry graduated from the Lone Star School in 1946. On October 1, 1951, he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged on May 20, 1953. He spent 14 months in Korea and was wounded while serving there. He received a Purple Heart for his injuries. He was a life member of VFW #3551. Harry married Darlene Neal on June 28, 1953, in Otis, CO. He later married Patsy Watson on May 9, 1986, in Brush. Harry worked as a gasfitter serviceman for Public Service Company for over 30 years. After retiring he worked at the Brush Car Wash. Harry served on the Brush Fire Department for 20 years, being the first of three generations of men to serve on the BFD. He belonged to the Morgan County Moose Lodge. An avid bowler, Harry was inducted into the Brush Bowling Hall of Fame in 1997. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served as a director for the East Morgan County Hospital District for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Brush; children, Roger and his wife Marisa, Larry and his wife Jackie, Mike and his wife Ann, Cheryl Meza and her husband Randy all of Brush; Dale Null of Loveland, CO and Connie Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, stepchildren, Donna Scott, Lester Null Jr., and Danny Null and a step great granddaughter, Samantha Scott, and his parents. Funeral services will be Monday, December 8, 2014, at 10:30 AM at the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush. Interment with Military Honors by the US Army and VFW/American Legion will follow at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 4 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush
