HARRY "RUSS" KEIRNES, 74, of Fort Morgan, died late Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born May 30, 1933 in Ault, CO to Harry Roy & Anna (Hartmann) Keirnes. He attended school in Grover, CO and graduated from Grover High School in 1952. After high school he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Keirnes married Betty Goodwine on June 26, 1955 in Grover. They have lived in Fort Morgan since 1956. Keirnes worked in the oilfield for the majority of his life. He owned and operated B & S Services for 18 years. Mr. Keirnes was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2551 and BPOE #1143, Fort Morgan. He was an avid sports fan but especially liked horses. He was a Jockey for a number of years, and was a past member of the Jockey Association. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren ride their horses. Survivors include his wife Betty Keirnes, and his son, Scott Keirnes, both of Fort Morgan; three daughters, Sonja Weiss of Brush, Sherrie Dixon of Trinidad, and Susan Thompson of Merino; his brother, Bob Keirnes of Fort Collins, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Keirnes; one sister, Doris Gallagher, and one great grandchild. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 3 – 8 PM at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be Friday, December 28th at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
